It's been a privilege to be one of the voices associated with Volvo's advertising over the years, but particularly enjoyable to voice these new spots for the new S60 and V60 Polestar models for Volvo's performance division. Drool alert for petrol-heads everywhere…

Back to IMG today to continue narrating this very entertaining documentary series about all the top offshore yacht racing events around the world. Here's a link to the episode about the 2015 Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup at Porto Cervo, Sardinia last September. Since Rolex partnered the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda over 30 years back, the regatta has become a season highlight. The filming is as spectacular as the boats and the settings are just stunning. It's a rich man's sport though, with the total outlay for a week-long event somewhere around $150,000. Fun to watch though. Broadcasts are ongoing on BBC World and Sky Sports channels.

Delighted to be reading poems as part of this concert with London's Orlando Choir, Fieri Consort and soloists on Thursday 10th March, 6.30pm at the ancient City church of St Sepulchre-without-Newgate (near St Paul's Cathedral) in London.
"Membra Jesu Nostri is a strange and beautiful sequence of devotional cantatas by the German baroque composer Dietrich Buxtehude for choir, soloists and instrumental ensemble.
Punctuating the seven cantatas and forming a counterpoint to them will be readings by actor Christopher Kent of nineteenth and twentieth century secular poetry by writers including Sylvia Plath, WB Yeats and Simon Armitage."
Thursday 10th March 6.30pm, St Sepulchre-without-Newgate, Holborn Viaduct, London EC1A 2DQ

A very stylish commercial for Ladbrokes "Capture the Moment" TV campaign. Pleased to have recorded the vo for the spots here at the studio with the guys from top Swedish agency Prolounge.se
Hear what happened the day the big man got on the phone to Chris. When the call comes, can a fellow really say no…?
A bit of festive fun from the CK studio.
Very pleased to have recorded the trailer campaign for this hugely impressive new documentary feature from Davis Guggenheim about the inspiring Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani teenager who survived a Taliban attack on her life to become a leading advocate for the rights of children and young women and is the youngest-ever Nobel Peace Prize Laureate. The movie opens in the UK on November 6th and is highly recommended.

Back to IMG this week to record narration for episode 2 of Luca Ceccolini's six-part BBC documentary series The Spirit of Yachting, which follows some of the world's most spectacular boats round the grand prix yacht racing circuit. Episode 1, broadcast on August 9th, featured the Giraglia Cup, one of the most renowned offshore races in the Mediterranean. Over two hundred craft raced 243 nautical miles over three days from the chic harbour of Saint-Tropez to Genoa, Italy via the Giraglia, a rocky outcrop off the northern tip of Corsica. Episode 2 features the Rolex Fastnet Race, an altogether grittier affair in the cold offshore waters of southern England, with a record fleet of 356 yachts heading off from Cowes to the Fastnet Rock in the Irish Sea, via the Scilly Isles, and back to Plymouth. Some spectacular footage, well worth catching on BBC World, Sun Oct 11th, 20:30 UK time.
Was pleased to be asked to voice this rather stylish new campaign for upmarket purveyor of pens, watches and other accessories to the upwardly mobile, Montblanc. Nice work from Pablo de Falcon and his team in Berlin, with more spots on view as well at montblanc.com.

An unusual request in my experience, this one, but an interesting job. The guys from a company called Bullion by Post got in touch saying they wanted to advertise their gold buying service on TV and needed a voice that sounded upmarket but trustworthy, with some gravitas. Well, that sounded like my kind of thing...

The Pringles spots seem to have gone truly viral with people sending in their Ducklips pics from all over the world. Personally, I like Pringles as much as the next fellow but can't quite see the attraction of doing anything other than eating them. But it makes for some amusing spots. Here's another with me giving my wildlife doco spoof another airing...

This was a fun project to work on. Wacky new tent company Field Candy wanted to put together a crowd-funding campaign and came up with this very entertainingly daft Public Information-style film, to which I very much enjoyed lending an equally daft Pathe News style narration. Those tents look pretty cool, don't they?

TV trailer for the 2015 movie Spooks The Greater Good, with voiceover by Christopher Kent
Spooks was a huge hit on British TV and internationally so it was only a matter for time before it hit the big screen, and here it is with the show's sharp action, stylish settings and frankly baffling plots all ramped up for the big screen. Hunk of the moment Kit Harrington takes time out from Game of Thrones duty to join classy Brit veteran star Peter Firth from the TV show in Bharat Nalluri's pacy Bourne-meets-Mission Impossible thriller. I was pleased to be asked to add my dulcets to these very slick trailers produced by Intermission Films.

Movie trailer for the British film A Royal Night Out, with voiceover by Christopher Kent
It's long been hinted that our current Queen, while still a young princess, slipped out of the Palace with her sister Margaret on VE Day in 1945 to mingle among the celebrating crowds in central London. Who knows what really happened, but from that merest wisp of narrative director Julian Jarrold has spun this charming period movie. It covers some of the same territory as the Oscar winning The King's Speech, perhaps hoping to draw the same audience, with Rupert Everett and Emily Watson taking on the roles played by Colin Firth and Helena Bonham Carter in the earlier movie and Sarah Gadon and Bel Powley playing the young princesses. In truth it's an altogether lighter confection, but is nonetheless an enjoyable watch, and it's been fun working with the creative team at Empire Design to put the TV campaign together. Here's one of the spots.

Online commercial for Pringles Ducklips documentary spoof, with voiceover by Christopher Kent
I must have been asleep but I seem to be the only person who was unaware of what Pringles Ducklips were. Not any more. The witty Pringles people in Canada have come up with this entertaining viral campaign to get people to post their own Ducklip creations via social media and asked me to voice the spots in a spoof nature documentary style. Always nice to get a chance to release one's inner Attenborough...

Much to the delight of my soccer-mad 14 year old daughter I have recently been working regularly with the good folks at Fox Soccer in LA on voicing promos for their increasingly popular syndicated shows. Soccer may be relatively niche in the US, but LA is home to some of the world's best promo and trailer talent, and they certainly know how to cut a cool promo. Hats off to Fox producer Zac Kenworthy on this one.

TV promo for Games of Thrones on Sky Atlantic, with voiceover by Christopher Kent
As the new season of hit drama Game of Thrones is about to return to the screen Sky Atlantic asked me to give a bit of oomph to this promo for the catch-up on the story so far. Nice work from producer Tom Pallai at Sky. Just don't ask me to explain the plot.

Hit TV series The Missing and The Fall had everyone on the edge of their seats at the end of last year. Was pleased to be asked to voice the TV spots. Well worth seeing again.

Trailer for Mike Leigh's 2014 film Mr Turner, with voiceover by Christopher Kent
Mike Leigh's new film starring Tim Spall as the artist JMW Turner has been receiving deserved rave reviews and it was a great pleasure to be asked by eOne Films and Empire to voice the TV spots. Here's one of them.
Voicing completed for trailers on this superb movie, which will be remembered for the late great Philip Seymour Hofmann's final starring role. He is magnificently dishevelled as a washed-up German secret service agent in Anton Corbijn's version of the John Le Carré novel. If it's tempting to see Hoffman's tragic demise prefigured in the distinctly unwell-looking figure onscreen, it's probably safer just to judge it as a brilliant piece of character-painting by one of the best actors of our time. This is one of the TV spots.
